Dovetail Designs and Millwork has been producing custom, quality woodwork in Billings and the Northern Rockies for more than 35 years. The company was started in 1979 as the one-man woodshop of president and founder Mark Sevier. After years of steady growth primarily in private residences, in the late 1990’s Dovetail was contracted with the woodwork of the Montana State Capitol Restoration project–providing finish trim for the grand barrel-vault rotunda of the entryway, creating made-to-match replicas of original desks in the legislative chambers, and reproducing the turn-of-the-century mouldings and finishes for corridors and meeting rooms.

Since that time, Dovetail has continued to increase in both capacity and range of services, growing into one of the largest custom cabinet operations in the region. Our more than fifteen full-time employees and fully-equipped wood shop, from fine-tuned chisels and the artistry of a high-end finish room to a fully computerized CNC router, create exceptional wood products for large commercial projects, quality private residences, and public spaces. Recent projects have included the urban-modern Billings Public Library, restoration of the downtown Northern Hotel in Billings, and interior woodwork of the Warren Miller Lodge at the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana.
